Translation Studies Hub Colloquium To Feature AL&L Faculty

On Friday, January 15th, from 12:30 to 2 pm, the University of Washington Translation Studies Hub will feature three speakers from the Dept. of Asian Languages and Literature (Paul Atkins, Ping Wang, and Justin Jesty) at their colloquium. The theme will be "Translating Poetry and Teaching Translation for Publication.”

Professor Paul Atkins will be speaking on the translation of medieval Japanese Zen poetry; Professor Ping Wang will be giving a lecture entitled, "Translating 'Nature' and the Nature of Translating: Classical Chinese Poetry as a Global Phenomenon;" and Professor Justin Jesty will present his work on teaching translation for publication.

The UW Translation Studies Hub is a group at the University of Washington that "aims to coalesce energies on the UW campus and beyond by building on existing and emergent faculty and graduate student research projects, courses, and initiatives in public engagement around translation."
