On November 30th, 2016, the Department hosted Ghaffar Pourazar, an internationally renowned Peking Opera master, in collaboration with the Confucius Institute.
At the event, Mr. Pourazar explained the essential elements of the Peking Opera in layman’s term; he captivated the audience and involved them in singing, chanting, dancing and performing selected songs in the Peking Opera repertoire. He also performed parts of his hybrid, bilingual opera production based on the story of Monkey King, an all time favorite legend for Chinese people young and old.
