South Asian Undergraduate Minor

Students may choose a focus on Bengali, Hindi, Sanskrit, or Urdu.

This is a 30 credit minor.

I. LANGUAGE

15 credits of a single South Asian language at the second-year level or above:

For Bengali: BENG 201, 202, 203 Intermediate Bengali (5 credits each)
For Hindi: HINDI 201, 202, 203 Intermediate Hindi (5 credits each)
For Sanskrit: SNKRT 201, 202, 203 Intermediate Sanskrit (5 credits each)
For Urdu: URDU 201, 202, 203 Intermediate Urdu (5 credits each)

II. SOUTH ASIAN HUMANITIES AND SOCIAL SCIENCES

15 credits total:

A. Literature: 5 credits from either

ASIAN 203 Literature and Culture of Ancient and Classical India or:
ASIAN 206 Literature and Culture of South Asia from Tradition to Modernity
