Biography
Lali's research interests revolve around the history of crafts in South Asia. She looks at the
material lives of women in nineteenth and twentieth-century India and Pakistan and reads
works such as embroidery and cloth-weaving alongside literary and magazine texts to make an
argument for considering these lives as a vital part of the anti-colonial effort.
Colloquium Coordinator
Duties: This officer organizes the yearly graduate student colloquium held at the university, typically in Spring quarter. This officer must organize the colloquium space, tech, and catering. In addition, they promote and advertise the event and call for presentation proposals early in the year from the department, Asia-relevant departments, and centers at UW, as well as other Asian studies departments in Seattle and the Pacific Northwest.
