AL&L's Professor Ungsan Kim was recently featured in two Northwest Asian Weekly articles, "Halloween debate: Are Asian horror films scarier?" and "Want to scare yourself silly this Halloween? Recommended Asian horror movies." Prof. Kim, whose research spans Korean, Vietnamese, Chinese, and inter-Asian cinemas, in addition to queer cinema, genre films, experimental cinema, and media cultures of Asia more broadly, spoke with Northwest Asian Weekly's Kai Curry about what it is that audiences find so compelling about horror films -- and, in a follow-up article, provided a list of his own top five.
