Proficiency Test Reporting and Policies

You can take remote proficiency tests, such as those held by Avant, at any time during the year. However, the Department of Asian Languages & Literature has an internal deadline for reporting your scores to you and to the Office of the Registrar.

For scores to be reported in the quarter when you take the test, you should complete the test before the fifth week of that quarter. If you take the test after the fifth week, the scores may not be reported until the following quarter. Please note that in-person proctoring during summer quarter may be limited.

For example, if you take the test before the fifth week of Winter Quarter (typically the first week of February), your scores will be reported to you and to the registrar by the end of Winter Quarter. If you take the test after the fifth week of Winter Quarter, your scores will not be reported until Spring Quarter.

Please note that if you are taking the test for the purpose of fulfilling any requirement other than the College of Arts & Sciences one-year foreign language requirement (for example, proficiency requirements for degrees in JSIS, CISB, or Linguistics), you must email the Language Learning Center at langtest@uw.edu by the deadline above indicating where you need the scores sent.
