You can take remote proficiency tests, such as those held by Avant, at any time during the year. However, the Department of Asian Languages and Literature has an internal deadline for reporting your scores to you and to the Office of the Registrar.
The deadlines are listed below. If you take your test after the deadline, your scores will be reported the following quarter.
AY 22-23
- For scores to be reported in Summer Quarter 2023: August 4, 2023
AY 23-24
- For scores to be reported in Autumn Quarter 2023: November 17, 2023
- For scores to be reported in Winter Quarter 2024: February 9, 2024
- For scores to be reported in Spring Quarter 2024: May 10, 2024
- For scores to be reported in Summer Quarter 2024: August 2, 2024
For example, if you take the test before February 9, your scores will be reported to you and to the registrar by the end of Winter Quarter. If you take the test after February 9, your scores will not be reported until Spring Quarter.
Please note that if you are taking the test for the purpose of fulfilling any requirement other than the College of Arts & Sciences one-year foreign language requirement (for example, proficiency requirements for degrees in JSIS, CISB, Linguistics), you must email the Language Exam Coordinator at jameel7@uw.edu by the deadline above indicating where you need the scores sent.
