Kirk joined the department in October 2021. He had a 33-year career as an English language instructor, most of which was in the UW’s International and English Language Programs, but started with four and a half years in Tokyo on the faculty at Obirin Daigaku (now called J.F. Oberlin University).
His hobbies include transcribing and playing J.S. Bach solos on the five-string banjo.
