Katherine Guild, a Bachelor of Arts in Linguistics & Korean (UW 2025), has been selected as a 2026-27 Fulbright English Teaching Assistant to South Korea. As a Korean major, Katherine studied in Korea twice: once as an academic year student in Seoul and once as a summer FLAS fellow in Cheongju. The Fulbright US student program, established in 1946, is one of several United States cultural exchange programs with the goal of promoting "intercultural relations, cultural diplomacy, and intercultural competence between the people of the United States and other countries through the mutual exchange of persons, knowledge, and skills". For her Fulbright, Katherine will be strengthening her Korean abilities and deepening her understanding of what it means to acquire a second language. Her goal is to combine her own perspectives on language acquisition with the educational atmosphere of South Korea. Post-Fulbright, Katherine hopes to pursue a graduate degree in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL), Applied Linguistics, or Education. Congratulations, Katherine!
