ASSISTANT PROFESSOR, Department of Asian Languages and Literature, beginning Autumn, 2015. A tenure-track appointment is intended in the area of classical and medieval Chinese literature. Applicants must have a Ph.D. or domestic or foreign equivalent degree by the date of appointment. University of Washington faculty engage in teaching, research and service. The position entails a 9-month service period. Teaching may include courses in Chinese literature and literary history from the pre-imperial period to the advent of extended contact with the west (ca. 1500), courses in Chinese language (primarily classical), and offerings in the applicant’s specific periods and areas of research specialization.
