Proficiency & Placement

For registered UW students to waive the one-year UW foreign language requirement they must participate in the Indonesian Language Oral Proficiency Assessment. This assessment may also require you to read or write.

Steps to take the Indonesian Language Oral Proficiency Assessment:

Send an email to the Indonesian language instructor Desiana Pauli Sandjaja at sandjaja@uw.edu with your (1) name, (2) student ID #, (3) e-mail address, to set up an appointment.

Please see here for IMPORTANT INFORMATION ABOUT TESTING DEADLINES AND POLICIES.

For registered UW students who have some experience with or exposure to the Indonesian language and would like to continue their studies, you should also take the Indonesian Language Oral Proficiency Assessment. The instructor will then be able to determine your level of proficiency in the Indonesian language and accurately place you into the correct course.
