Dr. John Duong Phan received his Ph.D in East & Southeast Asian Language History from Cornell University in 2012 and is currently a postdoctoral research fellow at the National Institute for Japanese Languages and Linguistics in Tokyo, specializing in the history of the Vietnamese language.
