Catalog Description: 
Survey of issues in Japanese language use. Areas covered include dialectical variation, language attitudes, gender differences, and pragmatics. Prerequisite: Prerequisite: either JAPAN 311, JAPAN 312, JAPAN 313, any of which may be taken concurrently, or JAPAN 334, JAPAN 345, JAPAN 421, JAPAN 422, JAPAN 423, JAPAN 431, JAPAN 432, JAPAN 433, or JAPAN 445.
