Capstone Year

All Flagship students are required to participate in a Capstone Year. The Capstone Year is a year in China consisting of a combination of direct enrollment at a Chinese university taking courses with Chinese peers in students' own area of study, along with an internship utilizing Chinese in students' intended future career fields. This combined approach allows students to solidify both their academic and professional fluency in Chinese and represents a major step in their path to becoming true global professionals.

Once students have completed their domestic portion of the Flagship program they are eligible to apply for their Capstone Year, which takes place at one of three Flagship overseas centers. Because of the importance and depth of the Capstone application, students intending to apply to a Capstone program should begin advisement with UW Chinese Flagship staff a year prior to applying for Capstone.

Capstone Year Scholarships:  Flagship scholarship opportunities are available to Flagship students in good standing who have been accepted to the Overseas or Domestic Capstone Year. We anticipate sending application information to Flagship students in early March.
