Tom Hare, Princeton University, discusses Ikkyû Sôjun, a fifteenth-century Japanese monk who wrote some startlingly passionate verse in Chinese and is the subject of a remarkable set of portraits. The talk explores some portraits, while investigating his erotic engagements as reflected in his poetry.
