My (Early) Career in Japanese Translation

Jamie Tokuno, UW Japanese Major Alumni
Monday, February 24, 2014 - 3:30pm
Savery Hall 136

Are you interested in working in the area of Japanese translation? Join 2011 UW grad Jamie Tokuno to talk about her life after majoring in Japanese, as she headed to Great Britain to get an MA degree in Translation. Jamie will share her own experiences and knowledge about developing a career in the area of translation, the role of study abroad (Jamie spent one year living with a host family, attending Sophia University), her graduate work in translation studies, and the kind of work she has been doing in the field of Japanese-English translation and career opportunities involving Japanese translation.

For those interested in graduate programs in translation, Jamie also can answer questions about the application process, available programs, how a translation studies degree would impact your career, as well as different options for what to do after you've graduated from UW with a degree in Japanese!

This event is sponsored by the UW Japan Studies Program at the Jackson School of International Studies. For more information, contact: (206) 685-9997/ japan@uw.edu.
